Edexcel GCSE PE - Skill related components of fitness (lesson, powerpoint, activities)

(0)
Includes: Lesson power point and learning outcomes. Starter activity which recaps previous lesson on health related components of fitness. Introduction activity to skill related C.O.F - give each group one of the starter activity sheets - they need to identify the C.O.F being shown. (Speed is being shown in the cover image!) Discuss as a group to name all 6. Give each student one handout of the ‘definition power point’ slides. They need to decide which C.O.F this relates to. (I did this as an exercise where they move around the room and put all the ‘speed’ ones on one table, for example!) Clarify the definitions & sporting examples using the remaining slides on the power point, getting students to complete their worksheet (differentiated). Apply learning by answering one of the exam questions on each C.O.F. (I did this in groups & then got students to write up individual answers after they had discussed how they would answer it). Enjoy

Edexcel GCSE PE long answer structure strips

(3)
I created these structure strips to help my students have a better understanding of how to structure their answers for long answer questions. I print them out and stick them to the side of an A4 paper, students use the information on the structure strip to help them write out their answer next to it. I have seen a massive improvement in the most recent assessment & the students have said they find them really helpful! There are only 3 questions so far, i am creating more as i go. This file has structure strips on the following questions: Assess the advantages and disadvantages of commercialisation in sport. (9 marks) Discuss the impact of increased media coverage for the spectator and the sport. (9 marks) Evaluate how lifestyle choices in relation to diet and activity levels can impact on a sports performer. (9 marks) All questions are from Component 2- Health and Performance from the new spec Edexcel GCSE.
Practical PE table tennis skills stations

Practical PE table tennis skills stations

(0)
Table tennis skills stations to develop serving, push & drive shots, spin and angle on shots. Used for KS3 & KS4 lessons towards the end of a unit of work on table tennis, for students to set up their own activities to develop skills of their choosing. Or setting up a few tables for each of the 4 stations, and working in groups on a rotation to use all 4 stations. I have had really good responses from students who enjoyed the amount of practice they had in the lesson, as well as all of the practices being set out as a challenge / game against the others in their group! Each station has 3 levels of difficulty which makes it easy to give the exact set up to students of a wide range of abilities!

Practical PE - Calorie challenge

Practical PE - Calorie challenge

(0)
Pack includes a set of workout cards which include a picture of the exercise along with a ‘rough’ estimate as to how many calories a set time / number of reps works off. (Obviously this is only a rough guideline without having any data on the participants!). Also includes task cards which students fill out to record the number of calories worked off during the lesson (differentiated for MA / LA students). I have used this with KS3 for understanding energy balance & understnading the amount of work is required to burn off the calories they eat. I take in 3 packets of crisps, each with varied amounts of calories (I think … Walkers 100kCal, Hula hoops 130kCal, Doritos 200kCal). I used this as a target for students to try and burn off the calories in one of the packet of crisps!
